I have the Cinegears Single Axis system and have found this to be the perfect solution for gimbal use. It is small and light, yet it feels sturdy enough to withstand the rigours of the film industry. The standard motor is quiet with normal use and has enough torque for most lenses, certainly it has no problems on Leica Summilux, Master Primes, Ultra Primes, etc. The motor is very responsive and focus marks don’t drift at all. As mentioned in an earlier post, the system is very precise.
There is also none of the judder that other units out there exhibit with slow pulls. Overall, I am very impressed as are most of the focus pullers that have used my system to date. Wireless range seems really good and on a recent shoot, the focus puller was still happily pulling focus with the camera 200m away. Obviously, the slightly larger focus wheel on the new Express Plus Hand Controller will be nicer and I’m looking forward to the Extreme Motor for the really stiff lenses. One small criticism is that the focus wheel could do with some dampening.
